The Odd Fellow Cemetery
aka South County Memorial Gardens
9920 South Broadway
St. Louis, Missouri 63125

In 1980, the Odd Fellow
Cemetery after years of neglect was adopted and revitalized by Brothers Mackey Bayless and Tom Dempsey.
A lot of time, work, and efforts from Mackey, Tom, and volunteers went into the
task of cleaning up, trimming back bushes, and clearing the weeds that have
grown over the grave markers throughout the years. When they took over the
operation of this historical cemetery, they committed themselves to a labor of
love and to restoring the dignity of our brothers and sisters who have gone to
their heavenly rewards. Mackey and Tom both have passed on but left a part
of themselves behind in that of a cemetery with a secure future and in the hands
of Brother Mick who himself cares for the cemetery as his predecessors had done
years before; with commitment and to see it is secure for the next generation.
The edge of the cemetery is
the site for a "live" nativity scene which is set up every year for the pleasure
of the public. The nativity scene, complete with live animals is popular
with visitors who bring their children and grandchildren to see this unique
reminder of the real meaning of Christmas.
